one room challenge - week 2

Well... I can't say much got completed last week. We finished demo and our electrician is here today to install our sconces.

Here is a general idea of the design:

<< basket, floor tile, shower fixture, lighting, mirror, faucet, vanity, artwork, towels >>

If you saw my instagram post this morning, you saw that I changed my mind once again on our tile. We're now eliminating the 3"x6" marble herringbone for the main floor, and installing the Carrara herringbone mosaic throughout the entire floor and shower. I was never really in love with the use of subway tile in our shower since we have it in our guest bath, kitchen, and laundry room, so we decided on this 6"x6" square tile that will tie in nicely with the rest of the house but still feel a little different.

I'm really into both of these tiles together, but it's weirding Charlie out that I'm using both squares and rectangles and now I'm second-guessing myself. Am I crazy?? I couldn't find a single example of this combination for inspiration. It seems like 99% of people combine this tile with a hexagon mosaic. I've been there done that in our guest bathroom and I really, really want to use this herringbone for the floors. What would you do?

Here is a little bit of inspiration:

I had originally envisioned putting shiplap behind the vanity, but now that we're doing so much ourselves I have no interest in all the extra work that will create. We'll likely continue the wall tile along the back wall, but I haven't decided on this yet.

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to check out the other One Room Challenge Participants on Calling it Home - I'm sure they made a lot more progress that I did ;)
