e-design: contemporary eclectic bedroom in iowa

Hello! Today I'm sharing another recent e-design completed for a client located in Iowa. The main goal with this design was to help make their master bedroom feel both brighter and more modern. Their bedroom had not received much attention since they were renovating other parts of their house, which I can definitely relate to, since it has taken me almost three years to finally start thinking about ours!

BEFORE

Their style was contemporary eclectic, and they loved the beautiful windows in their room and wanted to find a way to not have them so covered up. We chose these roman shades (fabric: winding leaves in lapis) with a blackout lining from The Shade Store. These could be pulled all the way up to let light in during the day, and felt much lighter and brighter than the existing window treatments even when pulled down in the evenings.

The photography was chosen to represent places they have lived and traveled, and after going back and forth between a few lamp options, we ended up deciding on the modern Flynn table lamp from Serena & Lily which are a favorite of mine!

The walls will be painted Benjamin Moore Classic Gray, which will freshen up the room and go well with their existing wood trim. They also have children and didn't want an all white duvet cover, so we decided on this striped linen bedding from Restoration Hardware to keep with the light and contemporary feel of the space.

BEFORE

The existing floor plan was kept and two faux sheepskin rugs were added to bring in some texture.

As always, out of respect for my clients who have paid for their design I will only disclose a few sources in this post. If you would like information on a specific item, please e-mail me!
